Although my 9 year olds arent' competing this year, I went to the craft store, got ribbon in our colors (super skinny blue, skinny red, and med width white) and small barrettes (pkg 4/$.99)
I took 2 lengths of white ribbon,folded each one in 1/2, and hot glued it down on one side of barrette. Same with other side. Then I took the red and blue, tied them into a bow and tied them together, hot glued onto white. Super cheap, easy and fast. I did all 7 of them in about 15 minutes.
I have made for a friend's squad yarn covered hangars in their school colors. I'm working on little money bags for comp this year - I always wind up holding 45 envelopes.
